Southern Sludge Extravaganza This Friday at Will’s Pub! by orlandooom407

I’m extra excited for this show, not only because it’s Sluggard’s debut, but because the lineup is absolutely jaw dropping. Since I couldn’t control my impulsive fanboy rhetoric, I entrusted Heather Williams of Will’s Pub to step up for this show preview. Without futher ado:

Six Dead Horses – http://sixdeadhorses.bandcamp.com/

First time I saw SDH was at the Social Garage Days for their CD release party. I have rarely been floored by a new band as much as I was that night. The “in your face” music pulls you from the gut and makes you pay attention. Do NOT miss this sludge demon.

Wolfhunter – http://wolfhunter.bandcamp.com/

I love when South Florida represents. East or West, don’t matter a bit, it’s almost as if the Everglades swell and the swamp snares them all. From what I could gather, Wolf Hunter has a bit more of the southern rock influence than some of the others on this bill, but sure as hell don’t let that fool you into thinking your face will remain attached to your head.

Hyimn – http://hyimn.bandcamp.com/

Oh Hyimn, how you play to my love of concept albums with your War of the Ages EP. A little more prog than expected, but they definitely have the heft, complexity and driving instrumentals to keep me listening.

Demons:

These relative new comers will blow out the back of your skull with hard hitting doom. Solid and powerful rhythms matched only by the slicing guitar and impressive vocals. With an awesome and intimidating presence you won’t want to take your eyes off the stage.

Sluggard:
So, there was nothing for me to listen to on this one. However, since they feature Manny from Sterile Prophet on drums it’s hard to imagine where they could go wrong. This show will be the debut of Sluggard, so hopefully we’ll all be floored.
