New Beastwars Music Video For Tower of Skulls by orlandooom407

BEASTWARS, the band (sorry Dinobot), have released a vibrantly new music video for our enjoyment. The song, entitled Tower of Skulls, boasts a psychedelic trip through camera trickery and a myriad of visual hypnosis spanning several different natural landscapes including blue deserts and eclipsing suns. Enjoy!

Swamp Abyss Sorcery Fest – Saturday 10/13 @ BACKBOOTH by orlandooom407

Salutations readers. Our inactivity ends today. I went over to the fuse box this morning, flipped the switch and proceeded to breath in the gaseous dusty internet tumbling through the air. Not only has the blog been resuscitated, but we plan to begin hosting shows in Central Florida once again starting in December. I think all ya’ll will find yourselves presently surprised at the lineup for our comeback show.

But, before we get ahead of ourselves here’s a much more immediate means to satisfy the heavy appetite. This year, and month in particular, have been rife with new releases from the likes of big leaguers like Converge, Trash Talk and even those sci-fi dorks Between the Buried and Me. I’ve had the pleasure of attending three delicious festivals myself: Maryland Deathfest X, 305 Fest and Scion Rock Fest 2012. If you buy all this apocalypse garbage I’d say this year would qualify as a grand finale for any heavy enthusiast. Now, Orlando, yet again, gets to throw in to this gargantuan pile thanks to Ninety Proof Productions. Hopefully this next image jogs some memories:

If you haven’t snagged this yet, do your ears the favor. This compilation offers tracks from the best in Floridian extreme metal bar none. While the upcoming fest doesn’t feature every single band included there’s inarguable representation. Fast, slow, you name it you’ll hear it. Orlando’s representation includes the blackened humidity of Fire In The Cave, the tombstone ridden deathdoom hypnosis of Druid Lord and the apocalyptic doom country anthems of Hollow Leg. The Miami hat trick of Shroud Eater, Holly Hunt, and Orbweaver stand to stake their claim as our unconditionally loved cousins of the glades. Don’t forget St. Petersburg and Gainesville either, represented by the drunken metal punks flyingsnakes and midnight (pun intended) riders Hot Graves. Click the flier above for more details and some gut busting comments.

Now, one last order of business. We are actively accepting sample submissions for writers who want to contribute. If that sounds like you please contact Orlandooom407@gmail.com for more details.

Don’t forget you can always keep up with us on FACESPACE and TWATTER (@Orlandooom).

See ya’ll Saturday.

GODHUNTER: Tectonic Tucson Sludge Quintet On The Warpath In 2012 by orlandooom407

I’ve never visited Arizona, but if it’s anything like Nevada I’m sure the climate that early stoner rock groups cultivated still breathes glorious smoke throughout its deserts. GODHUNTER billowed into my inbox late last night thanks to Earsplit PR. These guys cook up some toasty sludge metal, and the vocals bare a resemblance to Hull with their organization and inherent choral qualities between the vein quavering screams. The press release below details a brief history of the band, but you can preview their LP of last year directly below:

“Like an encompassing dust storm full of fire and broken whiskey bottles and expended weed smoke, Tucson, Arizona’s GODHUNTER are preparing to suffocate the planet with their devastating hymns this year.

Through diehard D.I.Y. ethics and self-promotion, GODHUNTER have preyed upon the weak-minded scenesters and have defied pigeonholing genre classifications through a savage amalgamation of sheer heaviness, both live and through recorded proof via several EPs, split releases and compilation inclusions since their 2009 formation. All five members of the band are heavily involved in the local scene and hail from other previous and current acts across the region, yet bring their most ferocious dynamics to life in GODHUNTER; the result is a sludge-bred sub-hardcore blend of caustic riffery laced with multiple scathing vocal approaches.

GODHUNTER‘s latest output, the 2011-released Wolves, showcases the band’s most crushing material to date, and while considered by the band to be an EP, the beast clocks in with over 32-minutes of material.

Stream Wolves in its entirety now at GODHUNTER’s Bandcamp page.

With local and regional touring a constant part of the GODHUNTER mission of intent, the band have supported national acts including St. Vitus, Crowbar, The Sword, Red Fang, Early Graves, The Atlas Moth, Intronaut and Black Tusk in addition to countless indie acts. 2012 will bring much more touring to the table for the band as new live assaults are announced over the coming months. The band will also record/release several other indie releases over the coming months before investing time into a brand new full-length late in the year.

Stay tuned; the coming months will be filled with news of GODHUNTER‘s ongoing rapture…

Scion Rock Fest Set Times Chart (IN COLOR)! by orlandooom407

Scion Rock Fest kicks off tomorrow at 2PM EST in Tampa, Florida. We all couldn’t surpass our current state of elation if we tried. Here’s a handy colorful chart, created by Floridian West Coast native Chris Elmore, to help you in breaking up your evening. Orlandooom contributors and friends are sure to litter to floors of The Rtiz, Czar Bar and The Orpheum. I don’t know about everyone else, but there’s no way I’d miss The Atlas Moth, Sleep, Witch Mountain, Church of Misery or Saint Vitus. Might dip out during Down to catch a peek at Merzbow to complete the day’s sonic overload. Here’s Scion A/V Metal‘s graphical running order too:

You Won’t Want To Skip The Church of Wolves Debut EP by orlandooom407

I’m finally back in Orlando after an exhausting weekend filled with mayhem, sweat and 13 hour days of non-stop riffs. I’m talking about Maryland Death Fest X. While in Baltimore I received this submission to my phone during my Marc train ride into Baltimore from Washington DC. Church of Wolves hail from the hills of Durham North Carolina lugging around a big ‘ol rig filled solid with psychedelic sludge caked blasphemy. Tons of guitar tracks, so bring your swim trunks for wading purposes. Considering their EP sports the title Kentucky Fried Jesus I doubt anyone was surprised by that. If you’re digging on bands like Rwake or Buzzov*en the ears can cozy up to these fat saturated rhythms. Lots of dirty grind elements tossed around the percussive layers and even a bluesy lick or two. This is a name your price download, and ya can’t argue with that! Seek out Sublime Catharsis.
