Gourmet Powerviolence Show 4/29 at The Peacock Room by orlandooom407

HEY HEY NOW WHAT’S THAT SMELL? It certainly isn’t Clutch, because this aroma reeks of loathing and vegetables. 90 Proof Productions hosts another evening of filthy punk rock fun at The Peacock Room this Sunday night. The bill sports an inclusive assortment of Orlando support for its Miami family. Your 305 course includes a helping of pureed powerviolence with Lab Rats and an idol taunting Cumon Christ as a side. Hometown support includes POWERDUMP (members of Dissident Aggressor) and my favorite display of anarchic Floridian fervor Knifehits. Seriously, if you haven’t seen Knifehits get your Cory Trevor on, do some hot knives and get to fuckin’ work boys, but make sure to wear your helmet to defend against projectile punks, rogue beer glasses and collapsing ceiling tiles. I couldn’t find streaming widgets for the Miami boys, but here’s some tunes from the Orlandudes:

Eddie Brock – Brand New Day 7″ by orlandooom407

With a sludge symbiote firmly attached, Eddie Brock (A38 Recordings) have slung out a great powerviolence release to round out this first quarter of the year. Hailing from Baltimore, MD, these guys nail down a sound that is equal parts pure Spazz worship and Weekend Nachos-esque crustiness. With all of the classiness and subtlety of a homemade tattoo, this 7” balances warp speed grind segments, breakdowns that would be at home as a riff on a Cough record, and time honored caveman crust call-and-response. “I’ll B There 4U” is the longest and best track on here, a mass at the altar of Crossed Out with savage attention to dynamics. EB don’t waste any time with samples or proclamations, making this a perfect 7” to sate those immense cravings for absolute face destruction.

Face can meet said destruction via A389 Recordings in colored vinyl form, other releases also available at Eddie Brock’s Bandcamp. Refer to this gif for enhanced listening experience.

THROAT DUMP & GRENDEL – Split by orlandooom407

This makes me wanna give somebody the green weenie. This brief split showcases two Orlando groups called THROAT DUMP and Grendel. The dumpers are a powerviolence duo filled with an ample amount of disgust for, well, whoever these irate songs are addressing. Hilarious samples about defiant vomit start off a handful of these painstakingly brief songs. There’s five tracks from TD, but the longest one concludes at 1:18. I’ll need to hear more from them before making an appropriate assessment, but not bad for only five minutes! Now on to Grendel. Beowulf would’ve shit his loincloth and ran if the “actual” Grendel sounded anything like this. The second song is introduced by a famous sample from the side splitting B film Troll 2, and then you’re tossed right back into a monsoon of blast beats. Fans of Insect Warfare or Despise You will find gritty lofi satisfaction below.

Orlando Metal Awards Voting Begins! by orlandooom407

Big props to Orlandooom’s own Keith Carlson for this exceptionally classy logo.  So, the Orlando Metal Awards have come again in October as usual. Since our inception at the beginning of this year all of the dedicated individuals that contribute to Orlandooom shows, blog posts, promotions, parties or what have you have been a family to me. Granted, as Tim of Hollow Leg put it, that family appears to be  “a bunch of satanic alcoholics” seen through the eyes of any average Joe who’s never heard a metal band that wasn’t Slipknot or Metallica’s Black Album.

Now, I’m asking our readers, friends, and supporters to help us leave a foot print on the scene we’ve all work so hard to build and nourish. Below you’ll find a list of my  nominations for Orlando’s Best  Metal Bands and Individual Musicians. I’m going to post every single band that’s been gracious enough to be part of one of our shows.
