Municipal Waste Tour Diary by endlessgonzo

via Decibel Magazine:

5/29 – Orlando FL:
Something weird is happening in Florida while we are down here. People are O.D.-ing on some weird ass drug called Bath Salts, are freaking out and ripping each others faces off. It’s the perfect state for the Waste to play!

It was a cool show at The Social and afterwards a ton of us went next door to the Bar B Que bar. A bunch of old friends and my other band mates in No Friends were all in attendance and a lot of shots were had. Brad from Gwar rolled up there, too. Unfortunately, all this excitement of being around so many friends caused me to drink a little too hard and black out a little too early. One of the last things I remember was eating Del Taco burritos on the bus alone by myself in the dark. Tour life is so sexy.

Ew, Del Taco? These guys are the most reckless band in the world if that’s true. I’d rather stagedive into a Mortal Kombat-style spike pit.

Put The Bong Down For Two Seconds And Soar With SERIAL HAWK by orlandooom407

Thanks to Seattle’s SERIAL HAWK for sharing a digital stream of their upcoming 12″ Vinyl ‘Buried in the Gray’. The EP was recorded by Adam Pike (Red Fang, Black Elk, Norska, White Orange). This four song effort encourages a hefty helping of head bang complete with a side of psychedelic cool down. This release culminates an overload of precise break neck riff control. Hammering out the stoned stupid grooves nail the top priority of these hawks driving that nail home into their lapel. Dip your ears into these crooked riffs, complete with a nine minute mammoth entitled SILENCE MEANS NOTHING (you worm), with this handy streaming widget:

Core In China Sampler Available Now! by endlessgonzo

A new sampler has come out from the fine folks at Rock In China. This is exciting because we here at Orlandooom are always happy to see new Metal coming from countries normally bereft of heaviness. I am slightly bummed my personal favorite Chinese BM band, Yn Gzarm, isn’t on the sampler, but this is still absolutely killer!

(THE) MELVINS SEEK GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR THE FASTEST TOUR OF THE UNITED STATES & D.C. BY A BAND WITH 51-DATE FALL TOUR by orlandooom407

June 5, 2012, LOS ANGELES — The Melvins will attempt to become the Guinness World Record holders for the first band to tour the full United States and D.C. in 51 days with a tour kicking off Sept. 5 in Anchorage, Alaska and wrapping up Oct. 25 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

“We figured it was time for us to do something REALLY crazy,” said Osborne. “51 shows in 50 states plus 1 on D.C. and all in 51 days?  Jeez!  I wonder if we can do it?”

The tour, which will feature the Melvins Lite line-up of Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover and Trevor Dunn, also marks the first time in the band’s near 30-year history that they will perform in Alaska, New Hampshire, Delaware and Hawaii.

The Melvins Performance of “The War on Wisdom” from a recent episode of Last Call with Carson Daly

Arriving in-stores and online today is Freak Puke, the debut release from Melvins Lite that Spin recently described as “a unique detour for the long-running band” and adding “one of the loudest bands on earth has perfectly siphoned their gloomy energy into evil cocktail jazz.”

Trevor Dunn

“We had seen Trevor playing upright bass in a jazz setting and thought that we could utilize that for a recording project,” explained Crover. “This is something different from the two drummer/big hair line-up, which we plan on continuing with as well.”

Prior to the Fall, the Melvins have a full spate of appearances.  The band perform two shows in conjunction with Subliminal Projects: June 8 at The Echoplex in Los Angeles and June 30 at  TT Underground Gallery in New York.  Buzz Osborne will be a guest on Fox News’ “Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld” on June 28.   Melvins Lite will also venture north for a three week trek of primarily Canadian tour dates that kicks off on July 1 (dates below).

Thanks to Keeley Kennhan for sending in these two videos of Oxbow performing at Czar Bar in Tampa on Saturday for Scion Rock Fest. She described their performance as “confrontationally sexual”. I can’t say I disagree.
